Fundraisers

Haslett Band Boosters offers several fund raisers throughout the school year to generate the money needed to support our many programs described elsewhere on this website. We do not anticipate or expect that a band family will participate in every fundraiser. Rather, we offer a variety so that each band family can find at least one to support. We also try to look for and rely on fund raisers that take advantage of something families might already do, and the fund raiser gives you the chance to support the band at the same time.

HBB’s fund raisers follow a calendar, so our families can rely on and look forward to each event. The logistics for each fund raiser has been planned before so executing each one has become routine over the years. Below is a description of each fund raiser and the month each occurs. Haslett’s own T-Shirt Goods (formerly Haslett Spirit) participates with HBB in several ways and generously returns a portion of their profits to HBB.

Car Wash

On the Saturday before band camp begins, the Viking Marching Band students kick-off the season with a car wash at the high school. This is a great way for students to re-connect after the summer and for the community to be involved in Haslett Bands.

Mattress Sale

The early fall Custom Fundraising Solutions of West Michigan mattress sale occurs on a Saturday in the Room 807 of Haslett High School. They set-up displays and provide flyers and information for families to share with friends.

Fun fact – each year, 1 in 10 persons shops for a new mattress.

Pampered Chef

Starting in the fall,  a band parent who is a Pampered Chef consultant generously donates proceeds from an online fundraiser. Anyone, anywhere, can place an order and make payment online. Orders are shipped directly to the individual in time for holiday baking or gifting.

Craft Show

In October is the Holidays in Haslett Craft Show, HBB’s largest fundraiser. For over 20 years, the craft show hosts 180 – 200 vendors who sell only hand-made crafts to the public. We ask that all vendors sell only goods that conform to the following definition: “If you made it, you can sell it”.

Two full-size gyms, one cafeteria and a few hallways are transformed into approximately 200 booths of fantastic arts and crafts. Money is raised through vender booth fees, donations for baked goods, concessions, and tips for student workers.

Doors to the show open to the public at 9 am. Throughout the day there are door prizes, delectable lunch selections, a Holiday Café, and occasional live music by members of the Haslett Marching Band. Festivities conclude at 4 pm.

Poinsettia Sales

Families may purchase poinsettias to decorate the stage for the winter band concerts. After the concert, families may take their plants home or donate them to be gifted to school staff – secretaries, custodians, and auditorium technician – who do so much to support band students.

Poinsettia Sponsors 2019 order form

Each plant is $10. If you would like to sponsor, please turn in forms and payment using one of these methods:

  • High school students can drop the form in the Haslett Band Boosters box in the band room
  • Middle school students can hand it to one of the band directors
  • Forms can also be brought to the wreath pick-up on November 25 at the high school from 2:30-6:00

The poinsettias are provided by Van Atta’s Greenhouse and they are beautiful!

*DEADLINE for high school orders is December 2 *DEADLINE for middle school orders is December 9

Restaurant Nights

Each October and March, the Time’s Square Culver’s generously supports community groups with Monday Night Benefits. Depending on evening’s total earnings, groups can earn 10%, 15%, or 20% of the earnings from 5:00-10:00 pm. High school students sign-up to help deliver orders to customers 5:00-8:00 p.m.

On  January 22, 2020 at the Okemos Noodles and Company from 4-9 p.m., mention HBB and the restaurant generously donates 50% of sales to support band students. Timed before the High School District Solo & Ensemble Festival, this event gives students a chance to perform in the restaurant beforehand.
